SOFT TISSUE LASER:
The Odyssey Diode Soft Tissue Laser is used for a variety of procedures.

This versatile laser can be used to treat gum disease, canker sores, as well as gum lifts and re-contouring for cosmetic makeovers.

D
iagnodent CAVITY DETECTOR:
Up until now, it’s been challenging to detect cavities on the chewing surfaces on back teeth. Traditionally, cavities have been found with x-rays and feeling for “soft spots”. Today, with the advent of fluoride, enamel has gotten harder and cavities have become smaller thus, making them extremely difficult to detect. We now have the Diagnodent which utilizes laser technology. Pulses of light are emitted and when a cavity is detected, a fluorescent light of a different wavelength bounces back to a sensor giving an audible signal and a reading. In general, the higher the number the greater the size of the decay. We can now catch cavities early on and treat them when they are small thereby preventing more extensive and expensive treatment. The Diagnodent is an American Dental Association approved instrument due to its level of accuracy.

We are aware that some patients get more nervous than others at the mere sight of a needle or syringe. To ensure you have the most pleasant and positive experience in our office we perform anesthetic injections with a revolutionary system called The WAND.  The Wand is a computer controlled anesthesia devise that makes injections essentially painless.

The microprocessor inside The WAND automatically ensures a steady flow rate regardless of tissue density. Constant, slow flow is one key to virtually painless injections.  The computer provides a flow of anesthetic directly ahead of the needle. This creates a "pathway of anesthesia" as you hardly feel the needle.

Traditionally x-rays had to be taken on individual films and developing them would take 5-10 minutes. Thanks to Digital Radiography, we now have several advantages over traditional x-rays:

  • Considerably faster

  • Up to 90% less radiation

  • Image enhancements

  • Electronic storage

  • Avoids the need for hazardous chemicals

We use a sensor that is connected to our computer and when an x-ray is taken the image shows up on the monitor in just a matter of seconds. Digital radiography helps speed your treatment time and helps us make a more accurate and efficient diagnosis of your dental condition.

In the past it was difficult for the dental professional to show you problems in your mouth. Today, it’s easy with an intraoral camera. The camera is about the size of a dental mirror and has its own light source. We can magnify up to 25 times to show you things like a broken filling or tooth, cracks, or cavities next to fillings. Or we can give a tour of your mouth. With the intraoral camera, you can better understand the condition of your mouth by seeing what we actually see!
